How to Apply Pre-AU85 Proficiency Requirements How to Apply a Different Set of Major or Minor Requirements Admission to UW College/School |
Background Information on Proficiency Requirements |
In autumn quarter, 1985, the current composition,
writing, and QSR requirements replaced the University's existing proficiency
requirements. (In A&S and SOC WF, foreign language proficiency was
first required in AU85.) See the entry in the
in the AIF for details. Students may use those requirements if they
began college anywhere before AU85. Since DARS doesn't know the student's first quarter, it uses the requirements in effect when the student entered UW. If the student began college elsewhere before AU85, you must take action to apply the older requirements. |

Major and Minor Requirements: How to Apply a Different Set |
DARS automatically uses the requirements that were
in effect when the student declared the major or minor. You may want to allow
the student to follow a newer or older set of requirements. Note: If the student is being allowed to graduate under requirements that predate DARS, and if it does not appear that you can make DARS reflect those requirements with a reasonable number of exceptions, please contanct Tina Miller in GARS, millert@u.washington.edu. |
| On EARS | ||||
1)
In the exceptions drop-down menu, select: "Override student's quarter of admission into the major." |

The student's actual entry quarter will display, with a field labeled
"Override" in which to enter the QTR/YEAR you want to use. (If the student has more than one major or minor, a field is provided for each.) |

Run a new audit. The PGM ENTRY QTR on the audit (third line below the
